Campground Video – Harris Beach State Park, Brookings, OR
While we were in Brookings we stayed at our usual haunt, Harris Beach State Park. This time of year it’s first-come-first-serve and fairly easy to get into, but in bookings season it does get very popular. It’s a gorgeous campground and definitely our fav place to stay in the area.
This is just a quick post to let you know I’ve updated our campground review (click HERE to read the full review), plus we’ve added a quick 6-min video overview that we filmed last week while we were there. I’ve embedded the video into the review, but you can also chose to see it directly here. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jECz01_9i4Y

Hi Nina and Paul,
Nice seeing you on video. Beautiful state park. Definitely one we’d love to visit on our rv travels soon as we sell our home which has just been put up for sale. Thank you for sharing this place (and all the other wonderful places) with us.

I love the idea of a video with a campground review. Much better views than Google Earth:) Thanks for taking time to make the video. The ending doesn’t get much prettier:)

What a Great video! We want to come. I think you are there at the best time, less people. Thank you for your help. I sure appreciate it.

I’ve been lurking on this site for years. I’m a big fan, Love it but seldom post anywhere. We’ve been out two years and stayed at a number of places you’ve reviewed. Our tastes seem similar, the reviews hit me as spot on. We spent a week at Harris Beach last fall and loved it. Thanks for all the excellent information.

P.S. I ordered a satellite dish and receiver this morning using the Amazon link on the front page, hope it puts a little in the beer fund.

Thank you VERY much for the Amazon buy 🙂 And good travels to you.

Outstanding video and audio quality, what camera are you using?
We’ve driven thru Brookings, but never stayed there. I’ve picked out my oceanview site, now I just have to do the 9 months in advance calculation!

We’re just using Paul’s iPhone 6. We tried the cameras, but the phone actually gave the best video. So that’s what we’ve been using.

Hi Nina and Paul,
This park is everything we hoped for but I wanted to add a couple of caveats and/advisories for those who cannot get an A loop site.
Local tv using off air gives you the three major networks plus pbs. Period.
There are a bazillion trees so if up higher in the woods, satellite may not work. At all. Ours is auto search and it gave up after a big college try.
Site B 11 has full hookups but it is not suitable for a coach of any size due to its being very steep downhill plus seriously canted to one side. No one fell out of bed. The fridge is still working so I guess it is not too steep. A bit wierd trying to get the dish drained to drain!
Some of the B loop sites have illuminated power pedestals. I’m not sure of the numbers or how far down it goes, but anyone who looks on the map in the post can find B 11 and see the one way road that ends at this part of B loop. The sites to the right as you look at the map are generous and flat. I’m sure a bumper pull or fiver could handle our site. We had to do our reservations through reserve America and they have never been here. Hence the agent not knowing about the 4% grade. We did not bring enough planking to raise our rear plus the door would have been really high.
One last warning. Those afraid of heights or with bad knees should not allow a dog to set the pace going down the zig zag rock face trail to the tide pools. I did not fall but skidded a few times so I gave the dog to the DH and I took the photos. Also, chin straps for hats are recommended!
Loved it here. We are heading up to Umpqua which we love, and wanted to stop here one night to see for ourselves. It’s amazing!

Lots of good detail. Thanks!
