Campground Video – Cape Blanco State Park, Sixes, OR
Yet another very short post today, just to update our Cape Blanco Campground Review and add-in the short video overview we took while we were there.
Those of you who read my last post already know how CRAZY we are about this place. It’s our most favorite park on the entire coast and (very possibly) one of our favorite campgrounds in the entire US! Plus, a nice bonus for fulltime RVers who don’t like to plan, this is one of only two state parks on the Oregon Coast (the other one is Carl G. Washburne) that remain first-come-first-serve year round.
For those who prefer the written word you can click on our original review and read everything in detail there. Or, if you prefer to see it in film, here’s our short 6 1/2 minute video overview. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smxFPY0vxqw
It was 2 Years ago, but looks like Yesterday
Superb video……..I want to be there……..and I want a drone !
Still no dump station, right?
Correct. Still no dump station and no plans (that I know of) to repair it anytime soon. We mention that in the video & the written review.
Nina
Oops, sorry! Missed your mention of the defunct dump station!
Love seeing the vids. Lets us see the area and you all.
Keep em coming. Thanks
Fell in love with is part of Oregron two years ago and am dying to hit the beach again for my daily miles and miles morning walk. Thanks for sharing and brining out the green in my envy gene!!!
Really enjoying your campground reviews……can you check availability online for this campground
No you can’t. It’s entirely first-come-first-serve.
Nina
Nina, you have a wonderful way with words and your photography is gorgeous so every post is a delight to read. I view the vids as an extra added bonus and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! It’s like being there in person which gives such a great feel to the places you record in motion. Thanks so much…:-)
Thank you so much {{blush}}

We loved being park hosts at Cape Blanco last Spring. It was due to one of your posts, a few years ago, which prompted us to look into volunteering at Cape Blanco and we are so glad we did. Like you, we love the place so much that we encourage everyone to include Cape Blanco and Hughes House as “a must see” on their bucket lists.
So glad you enjoyed your host experience!
Nina
So….there is a 14 day limit there, correct? We were looking to stay at Bullards Beach but can’t get the time there without moving lots of times and so are now thinking of Cape Blanco. We won’t run into people putting their trailers there during the week for weekend use will we?
Yes! There’s a 14-night stay limit. After 14 nights you have to spend 3 nights out of the campground, but then you can come back for another 14-nights. You won’t find folks parking their trailers to grab sites here. At least that’s not been our experience.
Nina
EXCELLENT video review. If a picture is worth a thousand words, this was worth millions. I think you should do all of your reviews by video from now on. Reading about it just can not convey the beauty, the site layout, etc. Thank you and safe travels.
Thank you!! We are homesick for another visit out there and a run into Port Orford for some Crazy Norwegian food. Your video brought it all back.
Schedules say no hosting there for us this year but we’re going to leave an opening for 2017 to see if we can sneak in.
You might want to check directly with Greg Ryder (Greg.Ryder@oregon.gov, 541-332-6774 x27). He told me just last week he had 2 lighthouse host openings in June and one in Sept. They may have filled since, but ask anyway.
Nina
We have hosted there before…..and for a dump station….the Chevron Station in Port Orford has one…..and it a donation fee. Plan on puling in around noon most of the time…..and remember….check-out time is 1 pm and some people go to the limit.
